Nigeria has lost so many talented musicians, as we all know, the Nigerian music industry has been one of the best not just in Africa but to the world as a whole. Nigeria has produced more promising artists since one and a half decades ago and still counting. Nigeria has produced artists like Wizkid, Davido, Dagrin, Burna Boy, Olamide, Kizz Daniel, Phyno, Flavour, Tiwa Savage, Simi, and many others.

Today we want to talk about some promising and talented musicians in the Nigerian Industry that have lost their lives.

We have so many artistes that lost their lives when the world was ready to pay attention to them, some have already risen to stardom before their departure.

  1. Dagrin

Dagrin

 

Dagrin as we all know died 10 years ago in a ghastly motor accident when returning from the studio. Dagrin who was well known as an indigenous Yoruba rapper who raps in his mother tongue was also known as the godfathers of indigenous rappers in Nigerian, he was the first artiste to be signed as Globacom telecommunication ambassador in Nigeria. He came into limelight after dropping his widely accepted hit record, Pom Pom, and was later followed up by many other hits like Thank God Ft Omawumi If I die and many other amazing features from other singers.

Dagrin’s death came as a shock to everyone both his fans in and outside Nigeria as there were many controversies surrounding his death. Even till death, Dagrin remains the Yoruba rap god. R.I.P to him.

  1. MC Loph

Mc Loph

MC Loph was another promising Nigerian indigenous rapper who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident just after rising to stardom. Mc loph, who hails from the eastern part of Nigerian was a great rapper known for rapping in his mother tongue, (Igbo Language). Mc Loph was known for his widely accepted hit, Osondi Owendi featuring the Ijele of Africa Flavour. Mc Loph died alongside his fiancé as they were on their way to visit their parent and also to prepare for their wedding.

The news of his demise broke the heart of many good music lovers not just in Nigerian but in the whole world as the news came as a shock. The young rapper died when it was time for him to unleash and serve his fans with good music.  Even to date his wonderful fans still mourn him cause his legacy I believe will last forever.

  1. Goldie Harvey

Goldie Harvey

Goldie Harvey was another promising Nigerian singer who lost her life to the cold hands of death as a result of hypertensive heart disease. The singer who was also seen in the popular TV show Big Brother Africa 2013 died too the same year, though many controversies have been surrounding her death as she was said to be into hard drugs her husband said, his wife Goldie never used drugs.

Goldie Harvey died at her early stage in the industry with some wonderful songs recorded in her name, she featured J. Martins in one of her popular song tagged Give It To Me, she also had another wonderful song tagged Don’t Touch My Body. Goldie was indeed a promising singer R.I.P to her as her fans still mourn her till date.

Fela Kuti

Fela Anikulapo Kuti is a popular Nigerian singer who is well known not just in Nigerian but in Africa and in the world entirely. Fela Kuti through his kind of music fought for human rights, he also invented a part of music called Afrobeat. Through his music, he has unfolded some hidden secrets in Nigerian politics. Fela Anikulapo Kuti married 27 wives, he also married all the female entourage of his band group in a ceremony held by a Yoruba priest in 1978.

Fela Kuti worth $5 Million before he died and the cause of his death is HIV/AIDS. He died in the year 1997 in Lagos. Fela’s music didn’t die as his children took up from where he stopped. Today we have his sons Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti representing their father.
